The Energy Transition Show Continues

Hello Energy Transition Show members,

You may have seen Chris Nelder’s recent post about the future of the Show. After eleven years and more than 280 episodes, Chris has now made clear to us and our audience that he is moving on to new projects, and we thank him for a remarkable run as host of a show we have all come to know and love.

Chris let us know, before Episode 280 was released on July 15, that he was considering winding down his tenure as host, and we had hoped to work out a plan that would allow us to share that news jointly. His August 5 post was not coordinated with us, and it does not accurately reflect the state of the Energy Transition Show or his role in it.

Once we had worked out how Chris could move on to new projects from the Energy Transition Show, we would have preferred a simple farewell to our members. A significant portion of his notice is instead focused on setting out contractual and intellectual property positions, and it asks our members to subscribe to his new paid platform.

For you as an Energy Transition Show member, what this means is that our show continues. Your membership is unchanged, and the next Energy Transition Show episode arrives in mid-August. We’ll have news about the Show’s next chapter soon after.

We know this is sudden news, and in the meantime we’re revisiting some of the most popular conversations from the Show’s archive of 280+ episodes, many of which our current members have never heard and that remain strikingly relevant today. When we looked back at our member data, we found that more than 80% of our members joined in 2020 or later, by which time the Show had already produced 111 episodes. We’ll be sharing the best of those with you, so Chris’s voice will be with us for some time yet.

We’ve been thrilled to build the Energy Transition Show with you. We built it because we knew there was an audience for in-depth, meaty conversations about the energy transition, and that hasn’t changed.

We look forward to bringing you many more of them, in the format and to the standard you have come to know and that Chris helped us establish. We’re excited about what comes next.

We understand that a sudden post like this from the Energy Transition Show’s host may make you reconsider your membership, or you may have thoughts to share. We’ve set up a form so that anything you send us reaches the right person: member-request.energytransition.show
